On the way we stopped at K's house in Long Beach. She is going to keep an eye on our car while we are gone, and she also offered to drive us to the airport. When we got there, we saw that she had prepared a lovely send off lunch: lox and bagels, quiche hot from the oven, and homemade zucchini-walnut muffins! Knowing what a long journey we had ahead of us, she also prepared a six-pack of muffins to go. Then, after a lengthy goodbye to her pups, Gus and Pepper, we were off. It was hard to leave K. behind, as she is so much fun!
