Day 3: Canyamel and Arta

We're falling behind on our posts so today there will be less text and more photos.  First we visited the Torre de Canyamel, a 13th Century fortress tower...

Then met up with friends of F.and C. who own a couple of four-star hotels in Canyamel proper, the Canyamel Park Hotel, and the Hotel Can Simoneta.  The Can Simoneta sits on a cliff above the bay.  Here is one view looking east from the grounds:

Private pool attached to suite on the grounds:

A nice place to spend a quiet afternoon:

Then a walk down a dark spiral stair cut through the rock that goes from the top of the cliff to the rocky seaside below.  At the bottom this is the view to the west:

Then a secluded place inside a cove to sit and splash away from the waves:

After lunch we climbed the 180 steps to a 14th century church built in a fortress high above the town of Arta: the Church of Sant Salvador:

Then the drive back to Palma de Mallorca and dinner!
